"Bayesian filtering seems to work fairly decently for email; why not use it for edits? If an edit is flagged, make the user do a captcha and/or have a wiki admin look at it before it goes live on the page (and feed the information from that back into the filter).

It could take any number of factors into account - time to submission, number of links and/or amount of text added, and the probability of 'words' in the text and URLs being spam."

I particularly like the idea of falling back to CAPTCHA only when needed: less burden on the users, little need for moderators.

I won't be implementing this for this project though, it is relatively complex compared with the other rather mundane chores that comprise this project.
