bootstraplab

Thomax Kaulmann and Walter van der Cruijsen pulled the bootstrap to get our lab off the ground. There were several talks at and around mikro meetings early 2000. Happily, Herbert A. Meyer joined the clique in summer 2000. He and Thomax are involved in FreeOnlineSystems.

Why bootstraplab? Well, we wanted a shared, networked workspace which should create new ideas, software, art when different cultures, qualities and competences meet. A social software and spatial architecture to enable and stimulate convergence optimize sharing and exchange of know-how, time, skills, resources, media, content, interests, etc.

Also we are most concerned about free software as with many other freedom issues. We are interested in open and secure societies. We are very much inspired by Doug Engelbart and his work and are referring to his Bootstrap Institute.
