Getting to CS7

Because CS7 is held in parallel to ESUG Smalltalk Conference, please go to Conference site to get information about:

Any travel information you find useful could be added below.

(The following discussion of car sharing from nearby airports was added by Niall Ross and Janko Mivsek)

Car or Taxi Sharing

If anyone is intending to drive to Bled from (or past) airports such as Klagenfurt, Salzburg, Vienna, Munich, etc. and is willing to offer a lift to petrol-sharing passengers, please put your name and email below (with airport, and rough day and time when you know it). Alternatively, if several people are arriving at the same airport, we could share a taxi (for close airports) or car hire.

Flight times

To Ljubjana: I cannot see how to link directly to the Ljubljana Airport Arrivals and Departures schedule pages, so provide this link, which takes you to the current arrivals page; navigate via 'Flight Information' and Flight Schedules' (top left of page) to a page with 'Arrivals' and 'Departures' schedule links on it (pretty obvious I know but, hey, I only found it second time round; please don't tell me the rest of you could never be that slow :-). FYI, the schedules appear easier to find in IE than in Netscape, where the flight Schedules button does not appear.

The schedules seem mostly up-to-date. The direct flight from Manchester now departs 14:30 on Friday at least; I haven't found more than a five minute discrepancy on other flights I've looked at.

AFAICT, the wonderful cheap air fares we now have in the UK don't extend to flights to Ljubljana. (The best direct flight I found from anywhere north or west of it was a book-soon circa 200 return from Zurich. The best from the UK was 299 return from Heathrow via Vienna. If you find better, feel free to update this page; my research was far from exhaustive.)

To Other Airports: There are very cheap flights to Klagenfurt, Salzburg and Munich at usable times from the UK. Venice and Trieste may be worth looking at too. I'm assuming the mountains do not render the drive to Bled from these more scenic than time-efficient (Niall Ross)

Good idea! It is scenic AND time efficient. All those directions have highways almost to Bled. Klagenfurt is 50km from Bled. What about RyanAir to Trieste in Italy? Trieste is 2hrs from Bled. And Venice in Italy too (3hrs from Bled). And even Vienna from Austria. Anyway I think you'll save enough for a car rental, which you won't regret in any case for scenic drives around Slovenia.
