Frederico

Dear Frederico, Walter has probably mentioned my name as a new resident in The THING for next 4 weeks and my suggestion to try save one PC machine for doing stupid work of mp3 encoding. This might be also interesting thing for you to know that you can later use in your other works (making it more cheap in terms of hardware setup).

My suggestion is (and I am asking your approval for it) is to instal BeOS under the existing PPC and have MacOS with SuperCollider run in SheepShaver environment. That would enable the computer to both generate sound, encode it in mp3 and stream (maybe even save file localy as archive). Currently I am checking disk ... than will optimise it for partitioning and if I get your approval, make BeOS partition and install it as dual boot. I might also try avaliable SCSI HDs to see if thay will work (and avoid partitioning altogether). This means that old configuration will not be changed even if our experiment with BeOS fails. There is of course risk that in partitioning HD when Norton Utilities start the process something fails and oll data is lost. That is way I wanna make sure you know the risk involved and to make sure that you have a copy of data/setup.

Other than that I would like to meet you and talk with you about audio software especially SuperCollider which is now free software, which makes it really interesting for me personally as I am researching the subject of free generative media software.

Best wishes Zeljko Blace

BTW I like your project web design
