draft: ><+n.s:on or fCCa - Foundation of Contemporary Cultural Advancement |
- What is FCCA?
Depending on perspective and view one takes on the idea of FCCA can be positioned(but not defined) or seen differently ...
- social space: It is grassrooted organisation established by most active cultural NGOs in the field of Contemporary Culture and it's human resource needs will be mostly fullfield from prominent practitioners working in the field.
- political space: With it's institution croatian cultural NGO sector will have an engaged advocate, supporter and when needed representative with proffesionals that are set to challange governing policies and nagotiate in the case of regulating specific issues (e.g. copyright, internet access, public funding, education, market ...)
- market space: With already established support from corporate sector we hope to remain interesting and prominent actor in the field and establish strong long-term sponsorships and have support of different funding bodies/sources.
- cultural space: In the moment of fast growing cultural NGO field there is a big need for structural and organisational support which can be answered adequatly by more mature and exprianced actors in the field. With overall streanghtening of the field we hope to ocuppy a larger part of contemporary cultural production and show by example strong points of non-institutional work. We also hope to gather and network similar initiatives in cross-field production and establish adquate structural/organisational answer to the requierements of today's society, by supporting small, modular, networked, efficient, dynamicly addaptable and "smart" organisations. We want to not only work on solving existing problems of cultural field but also to widely open emergening questions to the cultural field.
- artistic space: Athough art production has deversifayed in late 90s in Croatia there is still lack of more complex and sofisticated productions that engage experts from different field and that expand creative process beyond existing artistic presentation/performance platforms (galleries, museums, theaters, concert halls ...). We hope to support this type of work and enhance interaction of art practice with other fields like science, technology, politics, economy, social issues...
- Why, How and for Whome FCCA?
- Idea of founding a new body in the field of Contemporary Culture came out of need to have a platform for long-term, continuous, in-depth research and development (as well as production and presentation) of contemporary cultural forms. This practice hasn't been established in Croatia so far by governmental or non-governmental organisations.
- With available infrastructure it would also be suitable for grouping resources which are hard to establish/maintain by individual organisations like libraries, archives, spaces for presentation and education/training.
- In discussion of possible models it seemed more appropriate to form a small specialised and dedicated organisation that would be able to work on different tempo than other cultural NGOs and yet be open and supportive to all NGOs that helped it's constitution as well as the overal cultural sector.
- By heaving it's topics widely open, the organisation itself will be focusing on networking, advocacy, policy and structural support work, with additional cross-sector and hybrid/cross-field productions, rather than ingaging in specific media, performance, visual arts or similar.
- Process of institution will be supported by international organisations working in the same field and corporate sponsors that already showed significant interest in supporting such structural project.
- It will be primarly adressing the issues of NGO sector (as being a part and partialy representative of it), but will also be in open dialogue with state institutions and collaborate with corporate entithies when both sides would mutually benefit.
