- was established in 1984 by an anonymous American philanthropist as a private, grant-making organization dedicated to promoting improved communication, closer cooperation, and greater respect between the people of the United States, the Soviet Union, and other countries in Eastern and Central Europe. The Trust makes grants to American nonprofit organizations conducting international cultural and environmental exchanges in partnership with institutions and individuals in Russia and Eastern and Central Europe. Priority consideration is given to projects in which direct, professional interaction plays a major role.

- Encouraging cross-border cultural cooperation and exchange between the current European Union, the countries joining the EU in 2004, and the future EU's eastern neighbours. Our new mobility scheme launched in February 2003 offers grants to individuals to contribute to this goal.
